Second Interview

My second interview went a lot better, I was able to listen more and find moments to ask them to expand or give any examples allowing the conversation to flow better and for more to be uncovered.

I struggled with not wanting to mention the word uncertainty as i wanted them to bring it up themselves, however it is in the title of my inquiry so felt like actually i could use it as long as i wasn't pushing them into a certain answer that i wanted to hear.

I also wanted to mention the process of getting the people to interview as this was a lot harder than i expected. i found that a lot of people were initially interested and happy to help but when it came to either setting a date or receiving the consent form back there was silence and i didn't want to be pushy so decided to find new interviewees. Some catagories for my interviewees i found harder to find than others and some I realised actually span over a few categories which made their answers really interesting.

  1. Hi Laura, I am loving to hear about your interviews so far. I have my first one at the end of the week, so its great to hear about hows are going. I think that using key words from your inquiry aims and objectives is fine, and actually necessary, as long as it's not used in a biased way. Thank you for sharing, I hope your other interviews go well :)

  2. Your smashing it out. But I do agree with you on getting your participants to cement something. Mine are all happy to do it and ive had a lot of interest and consent forms back, but for me its the getting a date that doesn’t effect or put them out of their usual working schedules. I feel like ill be doing a lot more waiting around after class for them or even doing it in my own downtime just so it doesn’t interfere with their lives too much. Because after they probably couldn’t care less if I interview them or not!
I also agree with you re: certain words. Mines the same as im trying to find out about teaching methods... and like you its in my inquiry title. So I think as long as it doesn’t push them to say certain words they may not have thought about then it should be ok. x
